What is a prediction market?

A market where you buy shares in an outcome. Each winning share pays $1.00.

A prediction market turns a question — “Will Bitcoin be up in the next 5 minutes?”, “Who wins tonight’s game?” — into outcomes you can buy and sell.

Each outcome trades between 1¢ and 99¢. The price is roughly the crowd’s view of how likely that outcome is: 62¢ means about a 62% chance.

When the market resolves, every share of the winning outcome pays $1.00 and every share of a losing outcome pays $0. You can also sell your shares at the current price at any time before then.
